Obwohl es eine empfohlene und bewährte Lösung gibt, werden dabei of Mittel wie Bienenwachs, Waffenöl oder Olivenöl genannt. Offenbar ist bei vielen Eigentümern älterer Hanghang das PANArt-Hang-Reinigungsmittel nicht bekannt, das seit 2009 empfohlen wird.
