Stumbled across this blog and just sent off my letter of interest. This blog is exceptionally helpful and up to date; thank you!
Well done for having such patience, in answering the same (what seems to be perpetual) question.
Keep it up, mate!

I heard a young Spaniard doing jazz with his hang last May, 2009, at the doorsteps of Santa María del Mar, in the Borne of Barcelona. I had never seen before this marvel. He accompanied an alto sax and they both made lovely sound. I whould have bought their CD but I recorded them with my digital camera.
Marvelled by his fantastic instrument, I asked him whether he also played tabla (having lived myself for 6 years in India, tabla came immediately to my mind); he told me he was learning tabla (a very difficult percussion instrument, by the way).
Thinking of buying a hang, I learned then of the prize. I think he told me some Euros 1500 or so. It's not cheap, but now that I know of the craftmanship involved and the fact that one has to order each instrument, I realize the cost involved.
My question is: does anyone know whether there is any well known hang percussionist? Why Spaniards seem to have an edge with instrument? or perhaps I'm wrong? Thanks
